Duplex apartment in an old Parisian house

"Ma vie, mes règles" ("My life is my rule") - this phrase, spoken in French, can often be heard from the inhabitants of the Fifth Republic. The owner of the apartment that we will visit today is guided by the same principle. The apartments are located on two floors of an old Parisian house, hiding from the hustle and bustle in one of the historic quarters of the city.

Style features

One glance at the interior of this French apartment is enough to say for sure - at its design two design directions were involved at once: loft and retro-style. It is a competent combination of these stylistic trends that contributes to the desired effect. Such interiors are typical for people directly related to the creative elite and for freedom-loving individuals who know their true price.

Finishing Features

During the repair of this old duplex apartment, all the unique features of the old buildings were preserved. During the restoration of the premises, many architectural touches remained intact: rough ceiling beams, cracked from time to time, and colorful wooden poles were preserved. The main task of the repair work was to hide the flaws of the apartment, formed under the influence of time, and highlight the most valuable points.

When decorating the walls in all rooms, the simplest technologies and materials were used: the leveled surfaces were painted in a noble white color. Some rooms have fully preserved the original surface texture and the shape of the ceiling. The main floor covering for all rooms, except for common areas, is parquet. This finishing material was completely replaced by the owner of the apartment during the restoration of the premises, however, while retaining all the best features inherent in wood - the ability to create a feeling of comfort and warmth.

The layout of the apartment as a whole has not changed much either. The most notable transformations have taken place in rooms such as the kitchen, bathrooms and bathrooms.

Interior Features

Ground level apartment

On the ground floor of the old apartment are several rooms. The most spacious of them is the living room, which is responsible for two different functions. Firstly, the landlord rests here daily and systematically receives guests. Secondly, the room has a dining area.

This space includes, in addition to a stable wooden table, two pairs of brownish soft chairs, an artificial fireplace, a decorative panel in blue tones, and several lighting fixtures. Thanks to the comfortable dining table provided for in the interior of the premises, the homeowner can eat not only in the kitchen, but also in the living room. In addition, the surface of the table is occasionally used by the owner to work or read books.

The guest part of the room provides for:
- two different sofas;
- several coffee tables of unusual shape;
- An original locker resembling a safe;
- floor lamps of different designs.

One of the sofas has leather upholstery, the other is covered with a soft cloth. A variety of coffee tables located in the guest area create convenience and comfort. A table, standing in the center of the recreation area, is perfectly complemented by a low wooden stool of an unusual shape.

In addition, next to the soft sofa of sandy-gray color there is a metal bookcase with books.

The room has several color accents. The brightest spot in the room is a decorative panel of red color hanging above a soft sofa. The motley bluish-raspberry rug covering the living room floor is not immediately apparent.

Natural light enters the room through the spacious windows that occupy one of the walls of the room. Carved decorative elements that look like handles look very intriguing on the window frames. The openings are decorated with simple curtains of sand color matching the soft sofa.

The kitchen in a Parisian apartment occupies a small space. This area has a completely modern look, thanks to new plumbing and functional electrical appliances.

The main preference is given to white, beige and blue-gray tones. A small kitchen table with a round tabletop and three metal chairs is located much lower than the window level.

One of the bedrooms of the Paris apartment provided by the project is also located on the ground floor.

In the interior of this room, in addition to a spacious bed, there is a small cabinet with many drawers, a chest of drawers for storing larger things, a comfortable sofa, an open bookshelf and several table lamps of various shapes and colors.

In addition, the lower level of the apartment provides for a completely modern bathroom with a retro-style shower.

Second level apartment

Access to the top floor of the French apartments is via a staircase with wooden steps and white railings.

Here is another bedroom, bathroom and several other rooms.

The bedroom located on the second floor of the apartment is a bit like the one below. True, here you can see more unusual architectural elements. The head of the bed is decorated with antique stucco. The room has a somewhat asymmetric appearance due to the fact that the designers did not make significant changes to the initial layout of the apartment.

The bathroom has a very unusual design. In this room, just like in the bedroom, the features of the old building were used, due to which natural light appears in the interior of the room, falling into the bathroom through a small window opening. If necessary, you can use the lamp suspended above the sink.

The bath itself does not take up too much space, which allows you to place a sink and a colorful laundry basket in this area. In addition, the room has a built-in cabinet with mirrored doors for storing personal hygiene items and an urn with floral patterns.

It would seem that something special can be in the interior of this old French apartment? How many such houses were lost in the narrow alleys of Paris! And only by becoming a guest of these old apartments, you can give the exact answer: their owner managed to achieve the almost impossible - the apartment acquired a chance for a new life, while preserving all its sophistication and charm.
